Damien Riehl is an attorney and technologist experienced in complex litigation, digital forensics, and software engineering. He clerked for state/federal chief judges, spent a decade in litigation, led global cybersecurity investigations, and developed AI legal software for ten years.

At Clio, he drives product expansion, integrating AI into a one-billion-document dataset across 100+ nations to optimize workflows. Via the ALEA Institute’s FOLIO initiative, Damien helps groups adopt data standards. He previously led SALI, curating over 18,000 legal tags to enhance generative AI, analytics, and interoperability.

As Co-Chair of the Minnesota Governor’s Council on Connected and Automated Vehicles, he advises on autonomous transit policy. He also chairs the MSBA AI Committee, managing an Access to Justice AI Sandbox, and partners with Colorado and Arizona courts on AI initiatives.
